lately though, i find myself daydreaming about living with my old roommates once again. it's something that we said we'd do again, though i don't know how feasible it'll be realistically. it's been over two years since i lived with people my age, and i miss it a lot. there's something special about sharing space and life with people in the same life stage as you. bitching about life after a long day at work/school, going on late night boba runs, procrastinating together, keeping each other accountable about going to church, ditching church together to spread the pagan-guilt thinner...i miss it all. i love the process of getting to know the people you live with. the excitement of starting a new season together, the fun and the frustrations of figuring out each other's quirks and habits, the rhythm and flow that develop as you build trust in ways that you can't with other friends...i realize now how incredibly blessed i was to live with the girls i lived with.
after much wishful thinking, i ended up mapping out the rest of my 20s. that's what happens when you're a planner- you plan, even as you daydream. ji and i will be moving to norcal. chicago was our first choice, but she thought it'll be too cold. so norcal it is. ji will be changing oakland, one kindergardner at a time. i always wanted to try working for a Big Brother like google. or maybe for the city of SF. either way, slaving for corporate america is one of those things i want to try out, though it's not as high up on the list as skydiving. anyway, i don't think oakland is all that close to sf or mtn view, but in my daydream it all works out.
i tossed out this idea to L and E last week at J+SL's wedding, and they were pretty enthusiastic about the idea. i got pretty excited too, even though it all started as an inside joke + wishful thinking. i don't even know where i'll be a year from now, so what's one more option, right? at this rate, i'll have a house full of roommates, no problem. i'll just need to figure out everything else, like housing and WORK.
so all this to say, i'm not lonely. but i hella miss my girlfriends.
