on the hunt

job hunt that is.

after a busy and fast-paced but relatively peaceful transition to the grand canyon state, i am now in the process of looking for a job that will help me pay off my loans until i figure out what i "really" want to do.

after a couple years of wrestling with career searches, my purpose in life and other such unavoidable questions that college grads face, i'm finally beginning to be at peace with the fact that my path to success and achievement may not look like that of many others. the more i'm at peace, the more i realize that my definition of success is very different from corporate america's. most of the time, i'm OK with that, but there are moments like today when i perused through websites of job search engines and companies that those differences seemed to work against me.

on a lighter note, my 12 y.o. bro's comment as he saw me web surfing made me laugh: "you know, i think you should apply to mcdonald's. i think they'll accept you."

then when i Googled "nba dance teams", this was one of the statements that made me think of liz lemon from 30 rock:
"NBA Dance Team is looking for writers that are interested in cheerleading."

and no, i am not planning to try out for an nba dance team any time soon. i hope to become BFFs with steve nash through other means.

dude euojin i know exactly what you mean. but for sure, God has called us to different lives and whatever He has created us to do...it is good and perfect for us because He's the one who planned it :) but admittedly...i get anxious and distracted by the worldly standards way too often. i think you've reached a much deeper level of peace than i..i must continue to pray :)

it's been a daily battle to take small steps of faith (with much backtracking!).

you know what helps me from getting overwhelmed sometimes? your blog + dozens of artsy-fartsy/etsy owners' blogs! it's true. beautiful things make me happy ;)

If beautiful things make you happy, take a look in the mirror. Seriously. Before interviews, my mother always had us look in the mirror and say, "I am an intelligent, capable woman." While I don't always get the job, I do feel better about it...

oh, elizabeth, you are kind. i have an interview in less than 2 hours...i will say those words before i leave the house. :)

dear euoj, take it from me the job search is definitely not easy. but as your friends so appropriately suggest, god has something very special and "you" planned out for you. it's only a matter of praying and trusting. the process might be trying but it is indeed worth it in the end. take heart!
